Invitations to weddings abroad …

09/25/2009

If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times …. there’s no such thing as a standard wedding invitation any longer because there’s no such thing as a standard wedding.

Thirty years ago everyone got married at their local church or register office. Now it’s not so simple , and if you’re planning to get married abroad then you will need to provide your guests with more than a date, time and location on your wedding invitations.

Initially at the Stylish Group we produced information cards that sat inside the main invitation, but that was never an ideal solution … what if the card got lost or thrown away with the envelope?

Or invitation ‘wallets’ that contained a card for each piece of information. They look attractive enough, but from a practical aspect I would advise against them. The more loose pieces of card you enclose the chances increase that people will misplace them (I speak from experience … I can lose something just by looking at it!)

Wedding invitation booklets are now becoming increasingly popular …

AltBerkleyA5front

Typically these will be A5 in size (14.85cms x 21cms when folded), the first page containing the all important invitation. You might want to think about personalising this by having your guest’s names printed …

A5firstpage

Following the invitation page, you can add up to seven printed pages detailing flight information, accommodation details, tour operators, local activities … You name it.

centralpages

The beauty of option for this type of invitation is simple … it saves your guests contacting you for the information. And if you don’t offer it upfront, contact you they will!

To post or not to post? Wedding invitation … or e-mail?

09/14/2009

We live in an era where there are hundreds of ways of communicating; e-mail, text, telephone, instant messenger, Skype, Twitter …. the list goes on and on, and it gets longer every day.

So when it comes to wedding invitations, do we really need to send them in the post still? With fewer documents being sent via snail mail now, surely there is a quicker and more efficient way to invite your guests to your big day?

From our experience I would say there has been no tail off in popularity with wedding invitations themselves, but people are now requesting RSVPs to e-mail addresses rather than via formal cards. This of course is more efficient and quicker, but do think about being specific about what information your guests need to RSVP with … dietary requirements, numbers attending, etc.

Granted, you will save money e-mailing an invitation (or setting up an “event” on Facebook, for example) but give some thought the following first:

  • Are all your guests able to use and navigate your chosen means of communication properly? For instance, my mum doesn’t even have an e-mail address …
  • People (particularly women) still like to get cards and invitations in the post, especially seeing as most post is junk and bills these days!
  • Everyone has a letterbox, and they don’t “crash”
  • Your guests are likely to keep an attractive invitation on their mantlepiece; it’s unlikely they will print off an e-mail and display it in the same way.
  • No mater how good your graphic design skills, you can’t adorn an e-mail in the same way you can a card.

Having said all the above you might want to consider setting up a wedding website which is a great way to keep your guests informed about travel information, wedding lists and the like. Alternatively e-mail addresses can be set up at no cost and then used to mail information to your guests as your big day advances. But do remember the first point on our list above …

Questions for your wedding stationer …

09/11/2009

With a hundred and one things to think about when planning a wedding it’s easy to forget a few details that are key when selecting your wedding invitations and associated items.

Our experience over the last five years has outlined one thing … there is no such thing any longer as “standard” when it comes to wedding stationery.

You might, therefore, like to bear the following questions in mind when speaking to potential suppliers …

  • What grade of card is your chosen design produced on? Card stock is described in terms of “gsm” (grammes per square metre) or “mic” (microns, being the thickness). Everything we produce is on the best quality of card we can source (usually upwards of 280 gsm/mic). This is a key detail; please don’t ignore it.
  • Can you see a sample? The best invitation design is lost if poor quality materials or workmanship are evident.
  • How can your supplier incorporate other inmportant information in your design? (i.e. travel details if you’re getting married abroad, accomodation for guests travelling from afar, wedding list information, etc.)
  • If your preferred design is out of your budget, how can your supplier acheive the same look for less? This is always the test of a helpful and creative design team.
  • How can you carry your invitation theme through to other items? Table plans, order of service, thank you cards, for instance. Again, keep budget at the forefront of your discussion here.
  • How can your invitatons be personalised? For instance, pearls might be your theme so how could they be subtly incorporated? Or maybe the shade of bloom you intend to feature in your flowers …

Above all, expect flexibility, assistance and a willingness from your stationery supplier to come up with the perfect design for you at a realistic price.

Order of Service just became a lot more affordable!

07/16/2009

Since I started Stylish Group back in 2004 Order of Service were always reasonably expensive items, mainly due to the labour needed to put them together.

So, to make our Order of Service more accessible, we now offer two options …

1. Lay out service only – you send us your wording, we lay it out in an attractive and professional manner, e-mail it back to you and you take it to your local printer … what could be easier? Click here for more information

2. You opt for our lay out service coupled with as many copies of Order of Service as you need … Click here for more details

Across the board, these options make Order of Service available at a fraction of the former price, and the best news is …. we’ve improved the quality too!

NEW…..the Greenwich Wedding Invitation!!

02/05/2009

As a designer I am constantly looking for ways to achieve luxurious and inviting statements in high quality paper and card.

If you are getting married or hosting another fabulous event, you simply don’t want your invitations or announcements to be anything other than spectacular, and that can be tricky when, today more than ever, you have to keep a tight control on budgets!

I believe that we have ticked all the boxes with our new Greenwich wedding invitation; it ooozes style, quality, and timeless chic.

The front of the invitation features an elegant graphic and the couples’ names. Instead of the words “Wedding Invitation”, you may wish to have the date of your wedding instead?

Printed onto top quality pearl card (in white or ivory), the matching paper inserts add to the luxurious feel of the design. And all for just £2.55 per wedding invitation including envelope….

Do wedding invitations need to be expensive?

01/21/2009

No! Not if they are Stylish invitations….

Weddings do not come cheap these days, and if you have specific styles, themes and schemes that you would like to be features then it can be hard to stick within budgets when searching for the perfect wedding stationery.

Our signature theme has always been “classically understated”; we do this very well because it is our natural style. Thankfully this fits very well with todays’ trends as brides are looking to maintain style whilst keeping costs manageable.

So today we have launched the first of our 3D lines (I’ll explain what 3D means shortly!)

Here is the Highclere wedding invitation, available in three options (hence the 3D!) depending on what budgets will allow…

fullekm

So, the three options are:

  • The Highclere wedding invitation is available to order online individually from our Stylish Online store. It is printed onto excellent quality 440gsm combined weight card (which is very substantial and thicker than most you will find on the market today, certainly in this price bracket), it is a staggering £1.95 per wedding invitation (including proofing and envelope). Find out more by clicking here. Postage will be an additional £8.00 for UK mainland deliveries.
  • Secondly, we can offer this wedding invitation design in packs of 25 invitations, again fully personalised, but on slightly thinner cardstock (280gsm, still very good…). Again an envelope is included, and the total pack including postage works out at £45.00 (that’s just £1.60 per invitation!) Click here to e-mail for more information.
  • Thirdly, we can offer a design-only service for the Highclere wedding invitation. This incorporates proofing of your chosen wording (we e-mail you a proof first) and then your design is loaded onto a CD Rom in a format your local printer can use to print off as many invitations as you like! This is a design-only service, so we do not provide any hard-copy invitations, but it is priced at an incredible £25.00 including postage for as many prints as you need!
